Donna Neimeister
Missionary in Uganda
Donna Neimeister is so excited to be moving to Lweteega, a remote village in the Mukono district of Uganda in August of this year.
She has an art background from The School for Creative and Performing Arts high school in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also has a degree from Eastern Kentucky University which prepared her to be a Recreational Therapist. She used this to mostly work with the elderly. She was married and has 3 grown children. She attended Cornerstone Church in West Chester, Ohio. Over the years she has participated in Bible study, women's ministry, children's ministry, and other volunteer opportunities and also went on The Walk to Emmaus retreat. Her faith has grown from knowing God, knowing God loved her to wanting to love others the way Jesus did. She went on her first international mission trip in 2014 to Kenya, Africa. Going on that trip and several other trips there, she fell in love with Africa and the people who live there. She prayed this would become her future home one day. God called her to move from Cinti to Atlanta so He could help her find opportunities to make that dream a reality. She soon got connected to Northpoint Church and GlobalX then into the missionary program there. At the same time, Donna had reached out to Lenora Gauthier, who was a missionary in Uganda and had gone to the same high school as Donna. They became fast friends. Donna then went to Uganda to visit Lenora and see if this was where God was wanting her to go. From that visit, Donna knew she was called to move to Uganda and live out 1 Peter 4:10 there!
Each of you should use whatever gifts you have received to serve others,
as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.
1 Peter 4:10
Lenora and Donna will work together to help support the needs of the primary school that is on the property they live on. They will be helping the children with school scholarships, medical needs, and transportation issues. The children come from several remote villages where there are very few resources. Donna is excited to also use her skills to teach art and various life skill classes to the children..
Donna is extremely excited to be able to help the elderly(Jajas) in the neighboring villages. She plans on loving on them through 1x1 visits, food instability issues, basic care issues, medical issues, and a variety of enrichment activities. She will also assist families in learning how to better care for their aging relatives
Donna also has a passion for women's ministry. She will walk alongside the women she is surrounded by as they experience life with so many challenges. She is hopeful that a variety of classes will be developed to assist women in childcare, cooking, life skills, art, and English. Other programs planned are medical clinics, life support groups, and bible study.
As Donna reflects on her life while preparing for this move she knows her life experiences, skills she has learned, the people who have been in her life, and her relationship with God have prepared her for this moment. She is thankful to each person who has helped to make this happen. And ultimately in awe of God for providing this opportunity.
